Ubisoft Discreetly Releases A New NFT Game

Ubisoft's latest venture into the NFT gaming space, Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., requires players to purchase an NFT to participate. Eurogamer broke the news on December 20th, highlighting the game's unique approach.

Ubisoft Discreetly Releases A New NFT Game

This top-down multiplayer arcade shooter expands the universe of the Netflix series, Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, and incorporates familiar Ubisoft franchises. Access is limited to 10,000 players, each needing a Citizen ID Card NFT. This card tracks player achievements and evolves based on in-game performance.

Purchasing a Citizen ID Card (a Niji Warrior ID) costs $25.63 via Ubisoft's claim page, requiring a crypto wallet. Players can also resell their IDs, potentially increasing their value based on in-game success or even renounce their citizenship.

According to Ubisoft's Magic Eden page, the full launch is scheduled for Q1 2025, with early access for those who've already secured their IDs.

A Netflix Series Inspired by Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon DLC

Ubisoft Discreetly Releases A New NFT Game

Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, the Netflix series that inspired the game, is an animated spin-off of Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon expansion. Set in an alternate 1992 where the US is a megacorporation-controlled technocracy called Eden, the series follows Dolph Laserhawk, a supersoldier, as he navigates betrayal and missions for The Ghosts.

While Ubisoft hasn't detailed the game's plot, it shares the same universe. Players become citizens of Eden, influencing the narrative through mission completion, leaderboard rankings, and community engagement. Their citizen score will directly impact the game's story.
