Best Redwing Decks in Marvel Snap

*Marvel Snap* enthusiasts have long lamented the sparse presence of animal companions in the game. With only a handful like Cosmo, Groose, Zabu, and Hit Monkey gracing the roster, the introduction of Falcon's pet Redwing in the Brave New World season is a welcome addition for fans of furry (or feathered) friends.

How Redwing Works in Marvel Snap

Redwing enters the fray as a 3-cost, 4-power card with a unique ability: "The first time this moves, add a card from your hand to the old location." It's important to note, however, that Redwing can only activate this ability once per game. Even clever attempts to reuse it with cards like Symbiote Spider-Man or bouncing it back into your hand won't trigger a second activation, significantly limiting its potential uses.

Additionally, targeting a specific card with Redwing's ability can be challenging. Move decks often include numerous small cards such as Iron Fist, which might not be ideal for Redwing's effect. Meanwhile, Scream decks typically focus on manipulating your opponent's cards rather than your own, complicating strategic use of Redwing.

Despite these challenges, Redwing offers some tactical advantages. Lower Collection Level players can utilize cheap move cards like Madame Web or Cloak to trigger Redwing's ability. In some scenarios, Redwing can enable surprise victories by facilitating early plays of powerful cards like Galactus or pulling heavy hitters like The Infinaut into play.

Best Day One Redwing Decks in Marvel Snap

Last season's powerhouses, Ares and Surtur, continue to dominate with a fresh Scream-based build that incorporates Aero and Heimdall to disrupt opponents and gain power. Redwing integrates well into this deck, although the temptation to play Surtur on turn 3 is nearly irresistible. Here's the deck list:

  • Hydra Bob
  • Scream
  • Kraven
  • Captain America
  • Redwing
  • Polaris
  • Surtur
  • Ares
  • Cull Obsidian
  • Aero
  • Heimdall
  • Magneto

This is a high-cost deck featuring Series 5 cards such as Hydra Bob, Scream, Redwing, Surtur, Ares, and Cull Obsidian. If you don't have Hydra Bob, you can substitute with another 1-drop like Rocket Raccoon or Iceman, though the rest are crucial. The strategy involves deploying Surtur on turn 3, followed by high-power cards to boost Surtur's power, with an alternate win condition using Scream to steal power. The deck includes 'push' cards like Polaris, Aero, and Magneto, and you can enhance Surtur's power further by dropping Redwing into Heimdall's location while also pulling a high-power card from your hand.

Another potential deck for Redwing is an Ongoing deck featuring Madame Web. With Dagger's recent nerf, move decks have largely vanished from competitive play, but Redwing might find a niche here:

  • Ant-Man
  • Madame Web
  • Psylocke
  • Sam Wilson
  • Captain America
  • Luke Cage
  • Captain America
  • Redwing
  • Doom 2099
  • Iron Lad
  • Blue Marvel
  • Doctor Doom
  • Spectrum

This deck includes two Series 5 cards: Madame Web and Doom 2099. While Madame Web is not essential, if you remove her, it's advisable to also drop Redwing for another Ongoing card like Mobius M. Mobius. The primary strategy is to utilize Doom 2099 to spread power across all locations swiftly. Madame Web assists by allowing you to reposition Doom 2099's bots and move Sam Wilson's shield. Most critically, you can activate Redwing's ability by moving it to Madame Web's location, allowing you to pull a card from your hand the next turn. On turn 6, you aim to play either Doctor Doom or Spectrum to either spread more power or spike it, aiming for a win.

Is Redwing Worth Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector’s Tokens?

Currently, it's best to pass on Redwing. The card seems underpowered and fits into an archetype that lacks significant competitive edge. Saving your resources for potentially stronger cards later in the month or next month is advisable, as Redwing's utility would likely require a substantial buff from the developers at Second Dinner to become worthwhile.
