AMC Slashes Mid-Week Ticket Prices by 50% Starting July

Author : Logan May 18,2025

Wednesday is set to become the new favorite day for movie lovers, as AMC Theaters have announced a groundbreaking move to slash their ticket prices by half on this day of the week. This initiative aims to draw more audiences to the cinemas during the typically quiet mid-week period. Yes, you read that correctly: ticket prices will be reduced by *50%*.

According to a statement from the company reported by Bloomberg, this all-day discount will be calculated based on the standard adult evening ticket price and will take effect starting July 9. Perhaps the most exciting aspect of this discount is that it extends to premium showings, such as IMAX or 4DX. This is a fantastic deal, especially considering the typically higher cost of IMAX screenings, making it a great opportunity for individuals, families, and groups alike.

The movie industry has faced significant challenges since the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced many to abandon the cinematic experience temporarily, resulting in a sharp decline in ticket sales. While recovery has been gradual, the sector continues to face hurdles and has not yet returned to its pre-pandemic vibrancy. However, AMC CEO Adam Aron remains optimistic about the future.

Aron noted that despite a low box office turnout in the first quarter, which he referred to as an "anomaly," the situation has "already corrected itself" with the strong performances of both *A Minecraft Movie* and *Sinners*. Since April 1, ticket sales have surged, which is not surprising given the success of these films. *A Minecraft Movie* has grossed an impressive $408 million to date, while *Sinners* has earned $215 million and continues to climb.

Moreover, the summer blockbuster season is just kicking off, with eagerly anticipated releases like *Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning* and Disney’s live-action *Lilo and Stitch* on the horizon. Additionally, new films such as *Superman* and *The Fantastic Four: First Steps*, both set to launch in July, promise to further boost the box office. AMC's new pricing strategy on Wednesdays is poised to significantly enhance these numbers, drawing more moviegoers back to the theaters.
