Black and White Kyurem Debut at Pokémon Go Tour: Unova Global Event

Author : Jack Mar 27,2025

The legendary Black Kyurem and White Kyurem are finally making their debut during the Pokémon Go Tour: Unova – Global, and they're bringing exciting new Adventure Effects to help you catch Pokémon more effectively. To maximize your earnings and enhance your gameplay, make sure to utilize the Tour Pass.

Black Kyurem's Freeze Shock creates electrically charged ice for 10 minutes, immobilizing wild Pokémon and making them easier to catch. On the other hand, White Kyurem's Ice Burn slows down the target ring during encounters, facilitating Excellent Throws. You can extend these effects in 10-minute increments, up to two hours at a time, with a total extension limit of 24 hours.

During the event, challenge Black Kyurem and White Kyurem in five-star raids to gather Fusion Energy. By fusing Zekrom or Reshiram with a Kyurem that knows Glaciate, you can replace Glaciate with either Freeze Shock or Ice Burn. Note that these moves will revert to Glaciate if the Pokémon are separated. Currently, Kyurem can't learn these new moves through Charged TM or Elite Charged TM.

ytYou'll have the opportunity to choose between two event badges: Black Version (Reshiram) or White Version (Zekrom). Choosing the Black Version means encountering Kyurem that know Glaciate after defeating Black Kyurem, along with Reshiram-themed Special Research rewards. Opting for the White Version offers Zekrom-themed Special Research rewards, and Kyurem encountered after defeating White Kyurem will also know Glaciate.

To enhance your progression, leverage the Tour Pass, which unlocks various rewards and boosts your Adventure Effects. Earn Tour Points by catching Pokémon, completing raids, and hatching Eggs, or expedite your progress with quick Pass Tasks. Reaching Major Milestones will increase your Catch XP and extend the duration of Freeze Shock or Ice Burn.

For those looking to maximize their bonuses, consider upgrading to the Tour Pass Deluxe. This premium version provides an immediate encounter with Victini, more event-themed encounters, an avatar item, and the new Lucky Trinket. The Lucky Trinket is a one-time-use item that allows you to become Lucky Friends with someone on your Friend List, enhancing your next trade.

Pokémon Go Tour: Unova – Global is scheduled to run from February 24th to March 2nd.
