Elden Ring Live-Action Film Adaptation Coming Soon
Helmed by Filmmaker Alex Garland
Publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment and A24 have jointly announced development of a live-action Elden Ring film adaptation.
Visionary director Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Civil War) will helm the project, aiming to faithfully translate the game's expansive world and dynamic combat to cinema. The production team includes Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, and Allon Reich from DNA Films, alongside George R.R. Martin and Vince Gerardis of Game of Thrones fame. FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki's involvement remains unconfirmed at this stage.
While key details regarding storyline and casting are still under wraps, fans can anticipate further announcements in the near future.
Elden Ring's Continued Dominance in 2025
While awaiting the film adaptation, the Elden Ring franchise continues its impressive momentum. The original 2022 release became one of gaming's greatest success stories, moving 13.4 million copies in its first five weeks. By April 2025, global sales reached 30 million units - a milestone celebrated by the developers via social media.
The title holds the record for most Game of Year awards in history (324 total), while its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC (2024) matched the base game's critical acclaim.
FromSoftware expands the franchise in 2025 with two major releases. Elden Ring Nightreign, a co-op spinoff launching May 30th for PC and consoles, introduces the new Limveld setting where players become Nightfarers battling the Nightlord threat. The game reimagines Elden Ring's core mechanics for cooperative multiplayer action.
Additionally, the Nintendo Switch 2 will receive Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition later this year, bundling all DLC content with exclusive armor sets and enhanced Torrent customization options.
