Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has dropped intriguing hints for a new Borderlands game and stated in a recent interview "I don't think I've done a good enough job of concealing the fact that we're working on something … And I think people that love Borderlands are going to be very pleased about what we're working on."

Pitchford continued, "An announcement about the next game could occur before the end of the year" Pitchford continued. "I have the largest and best team that I’ve ever had working on what we know is exactly what our fans want from us – so I’m very, very thrilled. I can’t wait to discuss it! I wish I could just gush right now because we’ve got so much to share!"

While specific details remain sparse, Pitchford's playful hints have set the stage for what could be an exciting new game announcement. The Gearbox CEO also said that they are working on "major projects" and multiple projects were in development at the studio.

This was followed by a standalone spin-off, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, released in 2022 that also garnered positive feedback, showcasing the franchise’s versatility and creativity.

Ever since, the community has eagerly awaited another entry, and Pitchford's recent comments have rekindled that anticipation just in time for the Borderlands movie premiere on August 9, 2024.
