The third 2024 review phase for LEGO Ideas is now complete, with two new fan-designed projects officially chosen for production: an impressive Godzilla build and a Tintin Rocket.
LEGO announced the winning sets in a blog post, confirming the Godzilla submission by MattE720 from December 2023 has been approved. While the final design, pricing, and launch date are yet to be finalized, this marks the first official LEGO Godzilla set, coming soon for fans.
An Official LEGO Ideas Godzilla Set Is On the Way

This will be the very first LEGO set featuring Godzilla. The final product will differ from the original fan design, which serves as its foundation. Creator MattE720 noted his version draws inspiration from recent films like Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, reflecting modern depictions of the giant creature.
The exact piece count is still unknown, but the build appears substantial. LEGO has experience with large dinosaur sets, like the 3.5-foot T. Rex skeleton. Given that LEGO Ideas often targets adult builders, the final Godzilla set will likely be an elaborate 18+ model.

Each LEGO Ideas set begins as a fan concept. Once it gathers 10,000 supporters, it enters a review phase, a detailed process involving multiple factors. A major challenge is securing IP rights, which can make original ideas like the Tuxedo Cat easier to approve than licensed properties requiring legal agreements.
Besides the newly approved sets, many other exciting projects are in the review stage, including sets based on Monsters, Inc. – Boo’s Door, the Planet Express Headquarters, and even Clippy from Microsoft Office.
