Silksong Fans Speculate on Hornet Cloak Removal

Author : Allison Jan 14,2026

Yesterday, IGN announced that Hollow Knight: Silksong will debut as a playable demo at an Australian museum in September 2025, alongside exclusive sprite sheets from the eagerly awaited game—and predictably, the internet erupted.

"What possible in-game scenario requires a naked Hornet sprite?" questioned one Reddit user in a thread analyzing the leaked assets.

Among dozens of action and idle poses featuring Silksong's protagonist, one sprite depicts Hornet casually draping her cloak over her arm. (Close-up below; the original sheet places it on the right side, beneath the topmost ring):

"Why would she need to remove her cloak like a tired dad coming home? This is cursed," remarked one Redditor.

"Is this real? No way this makes it into Silksong's final build. Is that her actual design?" speculated another, while others exclaimed: "WHY WOULD THEY EVEN CREATE THIS SPRITE?"

Then… the discussion took a distinctly thirsty turn.

"Saves us the trouble of modding," declared one commenter. Another joked: "Straight to ESRB Adults-Only with this one."

"HORNET PLEASE RECLOAK THIS IS SCANDALOUS," pleaded the original poster, with replies echoing: "This feels so off," and "utterly pointless."

"I'm not a fan," stated another user.

For context, this could simply hint at cloak customization—but until confirmed, Hornet devotees should brace for chaos.

Team Cherry's sequel dominates Steam wishlists and remains a global phenomenon. After surfacing in Nintendo's Switch 2 Direct and securing its 2025 release window, fans rejoiced—especially with ACMI's Melbourne exhibition confirming playable access from September 18. Some speculate an August launch, though nothing's official yet.

The demo will feature in ACMI's Game Worlds exhibition, complemented by behind-the-scenes insights into the game's art and design.
