This month marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, the final installment of the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy. Released on May 19, 2005, it was the last Star Wars film directed by George Lucas before he sold Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012.
Fans eagerly anticipated Revenge of the Sith to witness Anakin Skywalker's transformation into Darth Vader. A key plot point was the fate of the Jedi, addressed through Order 66. This sinister command from Emperor Palpatine compelled the Clone Troopers, who had previously fought alongside the Jedi during the Clone Wars, to turn against and eliminate them. With thousands of Jedi serving at the time, it was logical to assume that some would escape this purge, beyond the few known survivors essential to the Original Trilogy's narrative.
Among the numerous Jedi who survived Order 66 and have been introduced in various canon Star Wars stories, we've compiled a list of the top 10 who have significantly impacted the saga. Some of these survivors lived only briefly after the order, while others endured much longer, and a few even have an uncertain fate. All, however, managed to survive at least one more day after Palpatine's chilling command to "Execute Order 66."
For this list, we set specific criteria: the characters must have been under the Jedi Order's jurisdiction before Order 66, regardless of whether they were a Padawan, Jedi Knight, Jedi Master, or a young Jedi Initiate. This excludes Force-users like Maul and his former master, Palpatine, as well as those like Jod Na Nawood, who never officially joined the Jedi Order.
There was some debate about including Asajj Ventress, who was trained by Jedi Master Ky Narec on Rattatak and declared his Padawan. However, as she never visited Coruscant or met the Jedi Council, and later turned to the Dark Side under Dooku, her status as a Jedi remains ambiguous. Therefore, she is considered an honorable mention.
