Monster Hunter Wilds Day One Patch: File Size Revealed

The day-one patch for *Monster Hunter Wilds* has arrived, and it's a hefty one, clocking in at a whopping 18GB. This significant update was first released on PlayStation 5, with plans to extend it to other platforms soon. While Capcom has yet to share detailed patch notes, speculation abounds regarding the contents of this update.

Many fans speculate that the patch includes high-resolution textures, which were notably absent in the review copies sent out to critics. The inclusion of these textures could explain the large file size, given their demand for substantial storage space. Moreover, since the patch debuted on the PS5, there's a strong chance it features enhancements tailored for the PS5 Pro. Capcom has confirmed that *Monster Hunter Wilds* will leverage PS5 Pro capabilities at launch, promising a smoother gameplay experience for console players.

Beyond visual upgrades, the day-one patch is likely to include a slew of bug fixes. Despite Capcom's efforts to polish the game, some bugs remain, and addressing them in the initial patch is a move players can expect.

While labeled a day-one patch, those who pre-ordered *Monster Hunter Wilds* can download the update ahead of the official release date. Players with slower internet connections are advised to install the patch before February 28 to ensure a seamless first playthrough. It's important to note, however, that this patch, despite its size, is not expected to introduce new content. Labeled as version 1.000.020, it's considered a minor update focused on enhancing gameplay and squashing bugs.

For those eagerly awaiting new content, *Monster Hunter Wilds* will offer post-launch DLC. Three paid DLC packs are on the horizon, alongside two free content updates. The first free DLC, coming in the spring, will introduce Mizutsune along with new event quests. Another content drop is slated for the summer, bringing fresh monsters and missions to the game.

*Monster Hunter Wilds* is set to launch on PC and consoles on February 28.
