Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Unveiled: Incredibly Slim Design

Author : Lucas May 14,2025

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge at its May Unpacked event, introducing its latest flagship smartphone. This model closely resembles the earlier 2025 release, the Galaxy S25, but boasts a significantly thinner profile, aptly named "Edge."

In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge shares a striking similarity with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Both devices are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and come equipped with a 200MP camera. The key distinction lies in the chassis; the Galaxy S25 Edge is notably slimmer at just 5.8mm compared to the 8.2mm thickness of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This thinner design also results in a lighter weight of only 163g.

The Galaxy S25 Edge sports the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display found on the Samsung Galaxy S25, despite sharing nearly identical specs with the slightly larger 6.9-inch Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Given its thin and expansive form factor, durability is a primary concern. Samsung addresses this by upgrading to Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which is touted to be more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. However, the real test will be its resilience against everyday mishaps, such as being sat on in a pocket, rather than just surviving drops. Will this be enough to prevent a new "bendgate" scenario?

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge also incorporates the "Mobile AI" suite of tools that were introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S24 and enhanced throughout 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset enables significant AI processing to be performed locally on the device, enhancing privacy. However, many AI applications still depend on cloud services. Samsung offers unique features like summarizing notifications and news articles, which could be particularly useful for users.

Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge are now open, with the 256GB model starting at $1,099 and the 512GB model at $1,219. The phone is available in three color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.

Samsung is keen to emphasize the durability of this sleek device. Let's hope their claims hold true in real-world use.
