The Nintendo Switch 2 launch is under a month away, and while debates continue about pricing, tariffs, and game distribution methods, one major third-party publisher expresses strong confidence in the upcoming console: Take-Two Interactive.
During today's investor Q&A following the company's annual earnings report, CEO Strauss Zelnick shared enthusiastic remarks about supporting the new Nintendo platform. When asked about Take-Two's plans for Switch 2, Zelnick revealed unprecedented support from his company combined with improved third-party collaboration from Nintendo:
"We're preparing four titles for Nintendo Switch 2 launch, which represents our strongest lineup ever for a new Nintendo platform. While third-party publishing on Nintendo systems has historically presented challenges, we've seen significant improvements in Nintendo's approach. We're meeting them halfway because we have tremendous confidence in this platform. Our release strategy remains platform-specific - we follow where players are, but not every title makes sense for every system. We're also exploring opportunities with our classic catalog titles."
The confirmed titles include Civilization 7 (launching June 5), games from the NBA 2K and WWE 2K franchises (specific titles and dates unconfirmed), and Borderlands 4 (September 12). While these represent continuations of existing Switch-supported series, Zelnick's comments suggest potential for expanded catalog offerings in the future. While Grand Theft Auto VI seems unlikely given its technical demands, the possibility of GTA V making the jump appears increasingly plausible.
Ahead of the investor call, we discussed various company developments with Zelnick, including updates on GTA 6's revised development timeline following its recent delay to 2025.
