Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 Public Test Server Launches with Major Update 7.0 Changes

Author : Sarah Mar 27,2025

The first public test server (PTS) for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now live, providing players with an early glimpse into the much-anticipated Update 7.0 and its accompanying patch notes. In a community post, Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive have shared that the preliminary patch notes for the PTS version encompass "most" of the features planned for Update 7.0. However, they caution that the final patch notes may differ as the development team continues to address bugs and refine the game.

For PC players who have access to the PTS (unavailable on consoles), Update 7.0 promises a wealth of new content and enhancements. Highlights include the introduction of a new PvE mission, "Exfiltration," a new secondary weapon—the Inferno Pistol, available for the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes—and the addition of prestige ranks in PvE to enhance endgame progression. Players can also look forward to private PvP lobbies, which allow for more personalized gaming experiences.

The update also brings exciting customization options for fans of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. New colors like Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue are introduced, along with Bulwark cloth and hands recoloring. Additionally, customization rewards in PvP are increased by 50%, and new champion skins for the Tactical (Imperial Fists Champion) and Vanguard (Space Wolves Champion) classes are added.

Significant balance changes are also part of Update 7.0. The extended weapon arsenal in PvE means all classes now have more weapon options, notably allowing the Assault class to wield the Power Sword without needing mods. Players are encouraged to delve into the detailed patch notes to explore all the weapon tweaks and enhancements.

A notable gameplay adjustment is made to the Inferno Operation. Now, if a player reaches the assembly area in the final stage of the level, other players will be automatically teleported there after a short delay, with notifications provided to ensure a smoother and more cooperative experience. This change aims to address previous issues with griefing, where players could block progress by remaining outside the assembly area.
