Application Description

Experience the excitement of Minnesota Whist, a unique variant of the classic card game, now available on your smartphone or tablet! This engaging, free-to-play game is perfect for honing your card-playing skills and enjoying some strategic fun. Unlike traditional whist games, Minnesota Whist stands out with its no-trump rule, making it a favorite in Minnesota and South Dakota.

In Minnesota Whist, the game's objective varies with the type of bid. For a "high bid," your goal is to secure seven or more of the thirteen tricks, while a "low bid" challenges you to win six or fewer. This dynamic gameplay keeps every round fresh and engaging, as you and your AI partner work to outsmart your opponents.

Designed to build your strategic thinking and teamwork, Minnesota Whist is a fast-paced card game that's ideal for unwinding. Whether you're a beginner or looking to challenge yourself, you can adjust the difficulty level to easy, medium, or hard. Track your progress with detailed all-time and session stats, and watch your skills grow!

Customize your game to suit your preferences with a range of options:

  • Choose your win target: 13 or 7
  • Opt for a "set bonus" to add an extra layer of strategy
  • Select between normal or fast play modes
  • Play in landscape or portrait mode
  • Enable or disable single-click play
  • Sort cards in ascending or descending order
  • Replay hands from either the play or the bid
  • Review previous hands played throughout the round

Enhance your visual experience by customizing color themes and card decks, keeping the game visually appealing and engaging.

Quickfire Rules:

After dealing the cards evenly among four players, each player bids either high (black card) or low (red card). The bids are revealed starting left of the dealer. If a black card is turned over first, the round is played 'high,' with teams aiming to win as many tricks as possible. If all bids are red, the game is played 'low,' with teams trying to win as few tricks as possible.

In a high bid round, the player to the right of the one who 'granded' (bid first black card) leads the first trick. In a low bid round, the player to the left of the dealer starts. Players must follow suit if possible; otherwise, they can play any card. The highest card of the led suit wins the trick, and the winner leads the next trick.

Scoring at the end of each round depends on the bid type. In a high bid, the granding team earns a point for each trick over six. If they fail to reach seven tricks, the opposing team scores one or two points per trick over six, depending on the 'set bonus' setting. In a low bid, teams score one point for each trick under seven.
