The success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 continues to soar, with the game now selling an impressive 2 million copies in under two weeks. Warhorse Studios, the developer behind this medieval Europe action role-playing game sequel, announced this milestone on Twitter, celebrating it as a "triumph." This follows their earlier announcement when the game hit 1 million sales just a day after its launch on February 4, available across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
Last week, Embracer, the parent company of Warhorse Studios, highlighted that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has performed exceptionally well on Steam, reaching a peak of over 250,000 concurrent players. This is a significant jump from the first game, which peaked at 96,069 concurrent players on Steam seven years ago. It's important to note that the actual peak concurrent player count for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is likely even higher, considering its availability on consoles as well, though Sony and Microsoft do not disclose player numbers.
Embracer, through its subsidiary Plaion, praised the game's initial success, noting its strong reception among players and critics, as well as its solid performance. Lars Wingefors, CEO of Embracer, expressed pride in the dedication and hard work of Warhorse Studios and publisher Deep Silver. He emphasized the game's potential for continued revenue generation over the coming years, attributing this to its high quality, immersive gameplay, and broad appeal. Wingefors also mentioned that Warhorse Studios has planned a robust roadmap, including updates and new content over the next 12 months to keep the community engaged.
Looking ahead, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's post-launch roadmap is packed with exciting additions. In 2025, players can look forward to three expansions. The spring will bring free updates such as a Barbers feature for more customization, Hardcore Mode, and Horse Racing. Summer will see the release of the first paid expansion, Brushes with Death, where protagonist Henry assists an enigmatic artist with a mysterious past. In the autumn, the Legacy of the Forge expansion will delve into Henry’s past through his adoptive father Martin’s history. Finally, the winter expansion, Mysteria Ecclesia, will involve Henry in a covert mission at the Sedlec Monastery.
