Squid Game Mobile Drops for Free

  • Squid Game: Unleashed is free to play for Netflix subscribers
  • Sorry, we meant to add "and for everyone"
  • Yes, the upcoming battle royale based on the Korean drama is a literal free-for-all!

The upcoming release of Squid Game: Unleashed is an exciting one, but I don't think I'm the only one who has been musing on whether Netflix Games, an excellent service that's sadly not that well known, can support a multiplayer release like a battle royale. It seems someone up top can read minds because Netflix has announced Squid Game: Unleashed is free-to-play for everyone including non-Netflix members.

So that means that, whether you have a subscription or not you'll still be able to play! It's an ingenious move by Netflix, and one that I reckon will give Squid Game: Unleashed a big boost when it releases on December 17th. And best of all? There are still no ads or in-app purchases!

In retrospect, it seems like a stunningly obvious decision. Netflix has gone from shipping DVDs across the country to a bonafide media giant. And the ability for their gaming output to support their shows, what with Squid Game season two on the way, has always been potent.

yt Many men wish death upon me

You probably don't need me to go over the features of Squid Game: Unleashed, but one more time with gusto. Squid Game: Unleashed can best be described as a more violent version of Stumble or Fall Guys. You'll make your way through minigames inspired by the deadly Korean drama, that sees debtors competing in underground death games to win an enormous cash prize. The winner is the one that survives; simple.

We should probably also point out that this announcement was made over at Big Geoff's Game Awards in Los Angeles. The awards have gotten some flak in the past for concentrating more on the broader media landscape than just gaming, but Netflix managing to tie in promoting the newest season of arguably their standout show with a major gaming announcement might put some of those criticisms to bed; for now at least.
